Bethlehem, West Bank- Runners in the first ever marathon to be held in the Palestinian controlled West Bank pass by soldiers on April 21st, 2013. Dubbed the ‘Right to Movement Marathon’, this race was held to raise awareness of the lack of mobility faced by many Palestinians. As there was no stretch of road that was more than 40 kilometres without Israeli checkpoints, participants ran two large loops of the course.
